Pantai Pasir Tengkorak
A very short stretch of beach but one of the best public beach for swimming. The water is very clear if you come at high tide. One of the few public beaches with toilets and changing rooms. Pantai Pasir Tengkorak is very popular with locals most come for family picnic and barbecue.
The name literally translate to ‘beach with sand and skulls’. Legend has it that in previous centuries during the age of piracy, lots of bodies got stranded on this beach. The bodies might be victims of piracy or the pirates themselves after being attacked by British navy vessels.
Pantai Pasir Tengkorak is located at the northern part of Langkawi facing the Andaman Sea. The island of Tarutao, Thailand is clearly visible and only about 10 kilometers away from the beach. Nearby the beach is one of the most attractive waterfalls in Langkawi, the Temurun Waterfall.
